Quilts of Valor was born out of the 911 tragedy. Catherine Robert’s son, Nate was deployed to Afghanistan. When he came home, she could see the demons of war had a strong hold. As he sat there Catherine wrapped a quilt around Nate and she could see the demons of war lose their power. The quilt brought healing to her son, so she thought quilts could help others also. President’s January Message


Admittedly, this is the first time I attended the Charity Group. It was an amazing experience. Lots to do, hustle, bustle and conversation. There were multiple stations set up including piecing tops, piecing backs, finding backs to be pieced, sandwiching layers, running the tying thread, and tying the quilts. The Fiber Arts group was a vision of a group quilters who wanted to expand into the art quilt techniques.  There were approximately 12 people, led by Colleen Curry, who were the first to attend the group on a consistent basis 10 years ago.  It has grown to a regular attendance of approximately 30.  They welcome any fiber media, including fabric, thread, yarn, paper, wood, beads, roving, etc. and the techniques that can incorporate them into an art quilt, including […]
