Admittedly, this is the first time I attended the Charity Group. It was an amazing experience. Lots to do, hustle, bustle and conversation. There were multiple stations set up including piecing tops, piecing backs, finding backs to be pieced, sandwiching layers, running the tying thread, and tying the quilts. Each person was working diligently toward the goal of a finished quilt. Once they are tied they go home with someone to be bound and returned to the general meeting or charity group the next month.
Everyone is welcome to come and help. You do not have to come for the whole day. A couple hours of help is always welcome. If unable to come to the group, you can also sew at home, donate tops or blocks to be assembled, bind, or anything else you are able to help with.
Charity serves a number of organizations, victims of fire or other catastrophes and provides quilts for the occasional fundraiser for someone with medical issues with no insurance. All in the Quad Cities area. They make and distribute over 200 quilts a year.
