Everyone has been touched in some way by cancer. To give back, Quillow QTees’ mission is to make quillows for adult cancer patients staying at American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Iowa City. The patients stay there while receiving their cancer treatments at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics and the quillows are taken home for their use when they are released. QTees’ meet the second Wednesday of each month at Davenport Masonic Center from 9 a.m – 2 p.m.
We are always looking for new quillow makers. We do have a lot of fun and it gives us a chance to get caught up with all the news. Come join us and see how easy it is to make a quillow. (There is no quilting.) And lunch is even provided.
Thanks to (average) 8 sewers each month for giving up their time and thread to make the lives of cancer patients a little brighter. We like to make at least 15 quillows a month. All supplies are donated, except the sewing machine and thread.
Janet and hubby, Denny Zhart, along with her QTees’ team, delivered 155 quillows to American Cancer Society Hope Lodge for 2018/2019. Lets see if we can up that number this year.
Much of this article was taken from the Quillows annual report.
