The Mississippi Valley Fair will be celebrating their 100th year in August. They are reopening the Heritage House for this celebration and have invited us for Friday, August 2, 10-5, to sit and do handwork outside the Heritage House, to show people the different things that quilters would have done in the early 1900s.
We will have 2 antique wooden quilt frames set up to load and tie quilts for charity. We are also looking for people to do English Paper Piecing, hexies, yoyos, applique, hand quilting in a hoop (can be big stitch if wanted), and crazy quilting. It would be great if we could have at least one person doing each of these techniques throughout the day. It isn’t necessary, but you can wear period clothes if you want.
There will be a sign-up sheet at the July meeting. It will be in 2 ½ hour shifts. If you will not be at the meeting call Julie Williams 563-650-7880 or Carol Schroeder 563-324-9344 to sign up for a demonstration time. Friday August 2nd, 2019, there is free admission for those volunteering. Demonstration hours will be from 10-5 p.m. There will be a shade canopy set up for us to work under.
Hopefully you will find the day rewarding. Come to have fun!
