Besides arranging exhibits, the Community Education Committee also finds venues that we can demonstrate quilting techniques to the public. This is a fun way to connect to the community. We have had demonstrations at the Figge Art Museum, libraries, Freighthouse Farmers Market, The Great River Quilt Show, Mississippi Valley Fair, and others. January 2020 President’s Message


The Community Education Committee is working in 2 specific areas. This month I am going to talk about the Exhibits area. We are looking for places to promote the quilting arts to the community. The Eldridge, Le Claire, Cordova and Davenport libraries have been very open to displays both on their walls and in display cases. State Fair Sampler Block of the Month

We received this information from Leila Gardunia. I just wanted to let you know about the State Fair Sampler Block of the Month I am hosting next year. The quilt was inspired by the quilt block frieze on the side of the Jacobson Exhibition Center on the Iowa State Fairgrounds. 2020 MVQG Challenge


The theme for the 2020 MVQG Challenge is Double 2020. There is a $1.00 fee per challenge entry. Quilts must be 20” by 20.” Bring your challenge to the September 2020 meeting. They will be displayed and voted on at the meeting that night. Top three vote getters will win a prize valued at $25 first place, $15 second place, and $10 third place.
